Kontur Nonprofit Association is a group of professionals with interdisciplinary backgrounds from layers till sociologists and social workers. The Association was founded in 2011 by university students who took part in a jouvenile crime mentor program. During the upcoming years it has been developped to a more complex organization working with members, volunteers and one payed employee.
The main purpose of the organization is to develop the chances of children living in poverty, mostly in segregated areas with a majority of Roma people. Its operation involves strong cooperation with schools and municipalities, besides many other peer-organizations with similar target groups and aims.
Most recently we have been founded by the Norway Grants so that a complex community development project is started in Budapest, Kőbánya, in an especially segregted and deprived area. The work with the Roma families and their children is supported by the involvment of high school students who are supposed to fulfill their volunteer experince needed for the final exam. This means that our work indicates a fruitful cooperation with schools and the involvment of young people with similar age as the target group.
As all the programs are for a Hungarian context, we have no English introduction intothe details so far. However, in case of a sepcial interest we would gladly answer any questions related to our work and give a deeper insight. Please just drop us a line.
